Movie Town Chofu's Autumn Fireworks 2019

Chofu's fireworks festival along the Tama River is one of the hallmarks of late summer in Chofu City and a tradition since 1933. The fireworks festival was suspended twice -- once during World War II and once because of the urbanization and construction for extending the Keio Sagamihara Line.  The event was revived in 1982 as the Chofu City Fireworks Festival.

The pageant of explosions and light that unfolds against the backdrop of the night sky over the Tama River has increased in scale every year, and has now become one of the biggest events in the Tokyo area.
