Athlete Wonderwall 3

Chofu City Cultural Hall Tazukuri presents wall art designed to capture the wonder related to athletes so that others can experience a piece of that same wonder.

In conjunction with the Rugby World Cup to be held in Japan this year, this exhibit features famous rugby scenes created by ink brush painter / black ink illustrator Hidekichi Shigemoto.

Profile: Hidekichi Shigemoto

A specialist in drawing using “sumi,” or “black ink,” Shigemoto’s works are praised for their speed of touch. Shigemoto has been active in Japan and overseas, creating works that include signs for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games used at Tokyo International Airport (Haneda).
