Rugby World Cup 2019™, Chofu Fanzone Schedule
Rugby World Cup 2019 (™) begins on Friday September 20 at Tokyo Stadium here in the city of Chofu.
A world-cup Fanzone, organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, will be in place at Chofu Station Square, in front of Chofu Station, for a period of 18 days.
As well as large screens showing matches live in public viewing areas, the Fanzone will also host stage events, a rugby experience area, a food & drink area, and more.
*Note: On the following dates - Monday Sept. 23 (public holiday) / Friday Oct. 4 / Friday Oct. 11, the Fanzone area will be open for public viewing events only. Other areas and events in the Fanzone, such as stage programs, will not be held on these dates.

Fanzone areas
1) Public Viewing
Matches can be watched in relaxed indoor viewing and outdoor-stage, large-screen viewing areas. A spectacular wall-screen has been prepared from which fans can enjoy watching games after sunset.
2) Stage
A Fanzone stage features special guest appearances from former Japan national team rugby players as well as local rugby pros. The stage also hosts performances from a line up of artists and comedians which include the comedy act "Buruzon Chiemi with B."
3) Rugby Activity Area
Rugby Top League players welcome fans at the Rugby Activity Area where visitors can can learn about and experience moves and techniques from the game. Everyone from children to adults is welcome.
4) Food & Drink Area
Popular food stalls from Tokyo appear in this area of Chofu's Fanzone serving original menu items based on cuisine from countries competing in the Rugby World Cup, served in a "donburi" style.
5) Culture & Exchange Area
Visitors to the Fanzone's Culture & Exchange Area can enjoy photo spots based on historical dramas as well as take part in workshops on traditional Japanese performing arts. The area will also feature booths from municipalities within the Tama region at which visitors can get a sense of the region's diversity.

The city of Chofu will also be running its own hospitality events in conjunction with the rugby Fanzone.
These will include the showcasing of food unique to the city, calligraphy experience using traditional Japanese fans (uchiwa), experience of traditional Japanese flower arrangement (ikebana), and sales of special products from our sister city of Kijimadaira in Nagano Prefecture.
Also, with the city of Chofu participating as a host town under "The Host Town Initiative" for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, visitors will be able to enjoy food and culture from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as part of these events.
*Note: Events run by the city of Chofu will be held across all 18 days.
