The description

Yukimi Daifuku is a popular Japanese ice cream dessert by Lotte, consisting of a ball of ice cream wrapped in a thin layer of soft, chewy mochi. There is two in each pack.

The good

Yukimi Daifuku is a really popular brand of ice-cream in Japan. The one reviewed in this post is the original flavor, there are several different flavors. The original flavor has vanilla ice-cream in the center of plain mochi, chewy pounded rice. I like that there are two daifuku in one pack. One would not be enough! I find it convenient that the pack comes with two little sticks that you use to pick the product up. So you don't have to get your hands messy. I also like that this product is widely available around Japan.

The not so good

Personally I don't have an issue with it, but potentially the texture of the chewy pounded rice against cold ice-cream might not be a combination everyone likes. Again not a problem for me, but perhaps some people might find the mochi a bit too chewy, even a choking hazard. My only complaint is that Lotte own the exclusive rights to the recipe and the patent (rightfully so) so there aren't any cheaper rip off products available on the market! It's not that expensive in fairness. Other than that the only negative is that the original flavor is so good, I rarely try any of the other flavors!
