An anniversary dedicated to eggs

Today, and June 9th annually, is Egg Day たまごの日 in Japan. The anniversary was created by a poultry farm in Aichi Prefecture. The date comes from a playful visual association: the kanji for egg, 卵, is said to resemble the numbers 6 and 9.

The company established the anniversary both to promote its own locally produced eggs and to encourage people to enjoy eggs. The anniversary is well placed, before the full strength of Japan's summer heat. In Japan's hot and humid summer, eggs can help maintain health.

Eggs give you steady energy, hydration support, and nutrients that protect your body from heat stress. When it’s hot, your body burns through nutrients faster just trying to regulate temperature. Eggs provide complete protein (all 9 essential amino acids), which help the body adjust. The June 9th anniversary reminds us of their health benefits and their versatility.
