A Brand New Anniversary for Milk Tea

This year a new anniversary has been officially approved by the Japan Anniversary Association; Enjoy Milk Tea Day Enjoyミルクティーの日. The anniversary was established by Lupicia, a company that specializes in tea.

The chose September 23rd for the anniversary to coincide with the Autumn Equinox, when the lingering heat begins to fade and many people start reaching for warmer drinks again. Myself included - today I opted for hot milk tea from the convenience store for the first time in months.

According to Lupicia, autumn is also the season when milk becomes richer and creamier, making it an ideal match for fragrant tea leaves. The company hopes the new observance will encourage people to discover the many ways milk tea can be enjoyed, from classic black tea blends to seasonal and flavored varieties.
