The description
This freezer product is a pack of five creamy condensed‑milk ice bars with a sweet strawberry center. An economical choice at 198 yen, before tax, for the pack.
The good
These Morinaga creamy condensed‑milk ice bars, with a sweet strawberry center, come in a cute outer packaging. Inside each bar is just wrapped in clear plastic. It is a gentle flavor. But perhaps due to that gentle flavor what hit me more is the taste of stick rather than ice pop. The ice pop kept its freeze unexpectedly long while in the package, but once I started eating it, it melted quickly. But in a good way, that made each bite comforting. The strawberry center adds a pleasant sweetness, but not too sweet. The portion size is good too and for around 40 yen per ice pop it seems like relatively good value.
The not so good
The wooden stick taste was way too overwhelming. I got it from the first slurp. While it's relatively common to get that stick taste toward the end of the product, I have rarely tasted it on the first lick of an ice pop. I also expected a different texture and was surprised to find rather than chunky, it's a soft hardness. The strawberry flavor was good, but the texture was too soft. I personally would have liked it to be hard or jelly like, it was neither. Overall, I found it mediocre, but if you like simple and not too sweet, as well as a gentle texture, it might be worth trying.
