A day for the building technicians
November 18th annually is a day with many different miscellaneous, even random, anniversaries. Take for example, Building Equipment Technicians. They have a day almost to themselves on November 18th annually. I say, "almost to themselves" because November 18th isn't just Building Equipment Technician's Day. They share the date with several other anniversaries as you will see in some of my other posts from today.
So what is a building equipment technician? A building equipment technician is a professional, with a national qualification, who performs maintenance, diagnostics, and repair on a building's mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, such as plumbing, air conditioning and lighting. They can also be responsible for a wide range of other building systems, including carpentry, plastering, and general maintenance, often performing tasks in both indoor and outdoor environments.
"Building Equipment Technician Day" was established by the Association of Building Equipment Engineers in Japan. The purpose is to make the existence of building equipment technicians and equipment engineers widely known to people outside the construction field.

Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com
