The description

This unique daifuku is made with smooth purin 'pudding' wrapped in soft, gooey mochi rice. It comes with a caramel sauce that you can pour over the product.

The good

My children who are more used to the traditional strawberry daifuku weren't so keen on the strawberry daifuku flavor in this range, but they liked this 'purin' one. I really liked it too and of the flavors I've tried in the range, this is my favorite. 'Purin" is called 'pudding' in English, but its more like a creme caramel, not the British 'pudding'. The size is good too, not too big so it can be eaten as a not too filling snack between meals. But the sweetness could put you off a meal.

The not so good

I didn't see the sauce until after I'd consumed the product! However, even if I'd seen it, I don't think I would have used it, as it would be quite messy. The white coating that is sprinkled on the product is also quite messy. It falls off with every bite. With the result me all had white powder on our clothes after eating! It was on the floor under us too. We got this product for 108 yen, but I think its usually more expensive. I would buy this flavor again at a higher price. I haven't seen this brand, Hata Seika, of daifuku at other stores, so it may not be widely available. Have you ever seen it before?
