Hello Future Self!
Today, July 2nd, marks the true turning point in the year's calendar - half the year has passed, half of it is yet to come. That is one of the reasons why Mynavi, a company whose mission centers on helping people see their own possibilities, chose July 2nd to be Future Self Reflection Day 未来の自分を考える日.
The aim of the day is for people to pause and look inward at the midpoint of the year. As the first half of the calendar closes, it becomes a natural moment to reflect on what has happened so far and to consider the goals you want to carry into the months ahead. Their hope is to encourage everyone to take time to think about personal dreams, career paths, and the kind of life they want to build, offering a positive push toward growth and new beginnings.
Another reason MyNavi chose July 2nd for the anniversary is because 7/2 can be read as "Na (7) bi (2)", the Japanese shorthand for navigation. Matching the idea of navigating yourself to a better future. It is a day to think about where you want to be one, five or ten years down the line and take a step toward a future where your efforts and hopes align.

Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com
