Good bacteria balance day
Today, January 18th, as well as November 8th, annually is "Good Bacteria Balance Day". The reason both days are Good Bacteria Balance Day いい菌バランスの日 is because both can be pronounced as "ii (11) ba (8)" for "ii baransu", the Japanese for "good balance".
The anniversary on both dates was registered by Ohayo Dairy, a long-established dairy manufacturer based in Okayama prefecture. The purpose of the day is to encourage people to think about the living bacteria in inside the human body and how maintaining a healthy balance of these microorganisms contributes to overall wellbeing.
Ohayo Dairy hopes that the anniversary will inspire people to incorporate beneficial bacteria, such as the lactic acid found in yoghurts, into their daily diets.

Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com
