Will and Testament Day
Today, and April 15th annually, is Will and Testament Day in Japan. A practical anniversary to remind people of the importance and necessity of a Will and Testament.
The anniversary is on April 15th as the date, 4/15, can be read as "good will"; "yoi(4)yui(1)go(5) n". It was established by legal professionals to promote awareness about the importance of leaving one's intentions clearly documented. While the topic may feel heavy, preparing a will is an act of care essentially.
Preparing a will is a way to reduce uncertainty and preserve harmony at a time when emotions are raw and heightened. Will & Testament Day invites people to approach the subject not with fear, but clam understanding.
