A day for yachts
Today, and April 10th annually, is Yacht Day ヨットの日 (yotto no hi) in Japan. The choice of anniversary for Yacht Day is due to the date, April 10th, 4/10, being able to be read as "yacht"; "yo (4) tto (10) in Japanese.
The anniversary was created by Yamaha Motor company, known best for their motorcycles, but also producers of yachts, among other marine manufacturing. A bit of research indicated that Yamaha's yacht lineup spans both sailing cruisers and dinghies.
Their racing dinghies seem to be well known in the dinghy racing world further to impressive results in both national and international competitions. Furthermore, it would seem that Japan in general has a long connection to yachting, dating back to 1861.

Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com
