The description
A particularly delicious chocolate daifuku, made with fresh strawberry, and a smooth milk chocolate filling, wrapped with a melty rather than chewy mochi.
The good
Kofukudō’s Chocolate Daifuku has the same soft, tender mochi the shop is known for, wrapped around a smooth chocolate filling that leans toward a gentle milk‑chocolate sweetness. It’s creamy and easy to eat, more like a light chocolate custard than a rich ganache. My overall impression is that it is a soft, mild, and comforting daifuku. It is a simple seasonal treat that works well if you prefer sweeter (but not too sweet), dessert‑style wagashi rather than intense cocoa flavor. Personally, I prefer the strawberry milk flavor, but this is a close second.
The not so good
The 400-yen price tag for just one chocolate daifuku is a bit on the expensive side, even though it is a particularly nice daifuku. And to be honest, even though I really liked this chocolate daifuku, I am not sure I would pay 400 yen for it. However, the great news is, that if you buy a set of four you can get it for just 250 yen. When you buy a set of four you can choose which flavors you want - you can get all four of the same flavor if you want too. I don't know much about the store - whether it's a chain or not - so this is the only place I know of where you can buy this particular daifuku. Overall, I was very satisfied by this product, and I will buy the pack of four again.
