Is Nandina your birthday flower?
Is Nandina the flower of your birth date? If you were born on December 5th or 8th, then it is! Nandina have a few different names in English. I think "heavenly bamboo" or "sacred bamboo" are common names. They are called "Nandin" in Japanese. They are native to Japan, as well as most of eastern Asia.
The flowers bloom early in summer, but they bear berries around November to December annually. The feature photo was taken on December 20th 2024 in Ageo City. In the Japanese language of flowers one of the meaning of the flowers is "my love only grows". It is said to be a reference to the fact that the white flowers bloom in early summer, and then the fruits turn bright red from late autumn to early winter. The red berries in December are very seasonal for Christmas.

Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com
