Smile training, Impression training, what?

One of the quirky anniversaries that falls on October 13th annually is "Smile Training Day". The title is actually quite self explanatory, but as it is not quite natural English it grabbed my attention. I wasn't sure what the day was about, but it really is about training oneself to smile! 

Furthermore, "Smile Training Day" was established by Miyuki Shigeta, Japan's first (only?) "Impression Trainer". Again, it sounds bemusing, but when you realise she is talking about "first impressions" it makes a bit more sense. Ms. Shigeta trains people to make a good first impression, of which smiling is an important part. She has a whole website in English, if you are interested in learning more about this unique individual!

She established October 13th as "Smile Training Day" to make people aware of the importance and the power of a smile!
