The description

A soft and moist bouchée, ブッセ, a Japanese small puff pastry, with a  melting cream center made from condensed milk by Yamazaki Bakery. Available widely in Japan.

The good

Named after the French bouche from what I can tell, but these Japanese bouchée are more of a Japanese confectionery item. They are like a small puff pastry. When I was pregnant with my eldest daughter I had a craving for these bouchée so often, that I associate them with pregnancy! So I hadn't eaten one in a few years, until I saw them in the shop yesterday and had a sudden hankering to try one again for the first time in a long time. No, I am not pregnant! I think I was just influenced by nostalgia. Moreover, I was hungry but just looking for something bite size so as not to spoil my appetite for lunch. The price is great for these bouchée too, at just 88 yen. There's so little food for under 100 yen these days!

The not so good

There is cream sandwiched by two light, moist and fluffy buns. There is a slight tartness of the buns. I really like it so I can't really fault the taste. I suppose i wouldn't object if there was a bit more cream in the center, but it actually might make the product a bit too moist overall. There are different flavors. I really like the milk one in particular, the cheese one isn't bad either but I really don't like the chocolate flavor of this product. I tried it only once and it was that bad, in my opinion, that I never tried / bought it again.
