The description

An egg salad and tuna with mayonnaise pair sandwich from convenience store 7-Eleven, available at branches around the country, subject to availability.

The good

When I am in a rush and want to pick up a quick sandwich for a lunch on the go, the 7-Eleven Egg & Tuna is my go to. Its two slices of bread cut in half - triangle shapes. One triangle has tuna and the other has egg salad with mayonnaise. Some of the other convenience store's tuna sandwiches put onion in, but if 7-Eleven puts onion in, I can't taste it. Similarly, I can't really taste the mayonnaise which is good too. This Egg and tuna is one of the cheapest sandwiches available (270 yen with tax included) and its always good. Its not gourmet and its not going to win any prizes for the best sandwich in the world, but it consistently tastes good.

The not so good

However, its also not very filling, so is not a good purchase if you are famished! But it is ideal if you want something quick and light to eat. Its probably not very healthy either. The white bread in Japan tastes very artificial to me anyway. As much as I hated the crust on bread when I was growing up in Ireland, I hate that Japanese bread doesn't have crust on it at all! It makes the sandwiches perfectly shaped and sized, but I do miss crust now that its hard to come by in Japan. As it is the 7-Eleven brand, this sandwich is only available in 7-11 convenience stores, but never fear, other convenience stores offer their own variation of it.
