The description
A non traditional Daifuku with a jelly sauce, rather than a whole piece of fruit, in the center of mochi rice. This review is for the grape flavor in the range.
The good
It is quite different to the usual daifuku. Not only because of the way it is made, but also because it is grape flavor. I don't eat strawberry daifuku that often, so I don't have a preference for the strawberry flavor and I was happy to try a different flavor.I quite liked the jelly sauce filling in this product, rather than the typical whole piece of fruit. They make the jelly sauce by boiling down "carefully selected" fruit, grapes in this case. I liked the texture of this grape Daifuku. The size is good too, not too big so it can be eaten as a not too filling snack between meals.
The not so good
My children who are more used to the traditional strawberry daifuku weren't so keen on this daifuku as they prefer the strawberry flavor. Moreover, they prefer a whole piece of fruit n the center rather than just a jelly paste. Of all the flavors we have tried in our household, this one was the least popular. We got this product for 108 yen, but I think its usually more expensive. I don't think its worth the higher price tag, for this flavor. I haven't seen this brand of daifuku at other stores, so it may not be widely available.
