Coreopsis, a birthday flower of April 13th
There are at least two birthday flowers for April 13th annually. They include the flower of the strawberry plant and Coreopsis tinctoria, hereafter just called coreopsis.
Coreopsis is "harushagiku" ハルシャギク in Japanese. It is a cheerful early‑summer flower recognized by its bright yellow petals and deep red center. In the Japanese language of flowers, hanakotoba, its meanings are "always cheerful" and “love at first sight", reflecting the flower’s sunny, uplifting presence and the way its vivid colors instantly catch the eye. In English flower language, it carries the same sentiments: “always cheerful” and “love at first sight.”
In Japan it typically blooms from June to July. I took the photo in this post on June 22nd. Coreopsis brings a lively, carefree energy to roadsides and gardens, making it a symbol of brightness, spontaneity, and the joy of unexpected beauty.

Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com
