The best thing about this pack of flat-type plastic food containers is that, as the packaging notes, they are sturdier and not as flimsy as most. I also like that there are ten in the pack, for just 100 yen - 110 yen with tax. They’re meant for picnic bentos or for storing food, and the sample photo on the package shows typical uses like rice balls, vegetables, or small side dishes. Because they’re shallow and lightweight, they work well for packing snacks, dividing food for events, or organizing ingredients in the fridge. I also like that they are made in Japan, and that the simple flat shape makes them easy to stack and carry.

Like many of the products available in the 100-yen store, I am very conscious about how wasteful they are. But also like many of the 100-yen store products, you find yourself in need of them on occasion. I bought them for my daughter who was using them for giving homemade gifts for Valentines Day and it wasn't practical to use ten of our own dishes for the occasion. Maybe though, it is something to think about for future Valentines' Days - how to reduce the amount of waste involved in gifting homemade goodies.
