A day for Fujipan's Snack Sandwich
Gallery
Today, and September 15th annually, is Snack Sandwich Day スナックサンドの日 in Japan. The reason for the date of the commemoration is that it marks the date - September 15th 1975 - when Fujipan first released its now iconic sealed sandwich line.
Fujipan, headquartered in Nagoya, is known for long‑loved products like Honshikomi Shokupan and Neo Butter Roll, but the Snack Sandwich holds a special place in the company’s history. It began with a simple idea: creating a sandwich that could be carried like a packaged sweet bread, using crust‑removed slices sealed on all four sides for easy eating on the go.
Over the decades, the lineup expanded from early flavors like ogura and marmalade to today’s wide variety, including egg, tuna‑mayo, peanut, custard, seasonal items, and regional specialties. With ongoing improvements to the bread and packaging, plus the introduction of mascots like Hasamichan and N‑pa, Snack Sandwich continues to evolve while staying true to its simple, convenient charm.
You will find many of Fujipan's 'Snack Sandwich' range reviewed on City-cost.
