The description

A golden KitKat with crisp wafers coated in caramel-infused chocolate with a hint of salt, offering a sweet-salty balance in a celebratory, limited Japanese edition.

The good

KitKat's limited-edition, Japan exclusive, flavors are always fun. And I always enjoy trying a new-to-me flavor. As such, even the flavor of the "GOLD" isn't my favorite by any means, it was a joy to try! While the flavor isn't top of my list, I did quite like the contrast and the difference in textures. What I particularly like about the "Gold" version of KitKat is the concept behind it. As it says on the pack, "A gold medal for everyone who works hard.” The subtext also says "supporting clubs". It is the season when new high school students join a club, so I quite like and appreciate the sentiment.

The not so good

It is not my favorite flavored KitKat ever. It wouldn't even make my top ten. But it isn't disgusting either! It does taste quite nice. The price varies greatly from store to store. It is ridiculously expensive if you buy it online, so where possible I advise purchasing it in store. If you are lucky, you will find a store that stocks it for less than 398 yen. But there are nine in a pack, so it works out at 44-45 yen per bar. Which isn't that expensive, but it is not cheap either, especially as it's only a fun size bar.
