Tom Cruise Day
I wrote about "Ethan Hunt" day a couple of months ago. As I wrote in that post, there is also a "Tom Cruise Day" in Japan. And it is today and October 6th annually. His day is called "Tom Day"! It is a pun on Tom Cruise's name, which sounds like "Tom (10) Mu (6)" - the tenth month for October and six the day of the month!
This anniversary was established by Paramount Japan LLC to honor the superstar, who is extremely popular in Japan. Particularly thanks to his movies such as the Last Samurai, Mission Impossible, Top Gun, Jerry Maguire and Minority Report, among others. It would be a good day to binge watch some of the movies Tom Cruise has starred in.
Did you know that Tom Cruise has some Irish heritage!? He was presented with a certificate of his ancestry by the Irish government and is very proud of his Irish roots. He is also known to have a particular love of Japan. He celebrated his 25th visit to Japan earlier this year for the premiere of Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning. Have you seen it?
Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com
