Public Senior High School Uniform costs

I was pleasantly surprised by the cost of my eldest daughter's public senior high school uniform this year. It cost significantly less than that of her older sibling's private senior high school's uniform.

This is just a very rough outline to give you an idea of the cost of public senior high school uniforms. Of course, it could vary greatly by region and even by school. Also, it's important to note that usually you are given a list of stores where you can buy the uniform and each store may have its own prices. 

As I previously wrote, I chose to go to one that is known for being more expensive because they had a better system for purchasing. I could have saved a few yen by going to another store. But even still her uniform only cost around 117,000 yen. This does not include shoes, socks, bag or any PE or specialty gear.

All prices are rounded off. The 117,000 yen was for;

• A blazer (25,000 yen)
• A material waistcoat (13,000 yen)
• A winter skirt (15,000 yen) 
• A summer skirt (14,000 yen)
• A winter ribbon (2500 yen)
• A summer ribbon (2500 yen)
• Two long sleeve school emblem shirts (10,000 yen)
• Two short sleeve school emblem shirts (8000 yen)
• Two knit vests (11,000 yen)
• Two knit jumpers (16,000 yen)

I didn't need to buy two knit vests, they were optional, and I could have bought just one sweater which would have kept the cost below 100,000 yen.
