The description
A refreshing summer dessert combining soft mochi, sweet‑tart strawberry sauce, and creamy condensed‑milk shaved ice. The chewy mochi adds texture and fun!
The good
This ice-cream stroke shaved ice is very different to what I would normally buy for the kids, but I thought I'd give it a try seen as my children love mochi. They all gave it a big thumbs up. The mochi is soft rather than chewy, something I personally prefer. I like (and so did the kids) that there are five mochi pieces. Surprisingly, they stay soft even though frozen, giving each bite a satisfying texture. The strawberry sauce and condensed milk are also delicious without being heavy. The shaved ice base melts smoothly and feels refreshing - I think it is successful in helping you feel cooler on a hot day.
The not so good
Overall, it's a dessert that feels indulgent yet light. But it might feel a bit too light to some. Because the dessert leans heavily on condensed milk, some bites can feel overly sweet, especially once the shaved ice begins to melt. The strawberry flavor is pleasant but not very strong, so people who prefer bold fruit taste may find it mild. The mochi pieces are small, and those who love chewy textures might be disappointed the mochi is more soft than chewy. As a seasonal item, availability varies by store, and it can be harder to find compared to the standard Yawa Mochi Ice flavors. According to the official Imuraya website, they only started the season yesterday, July 6th 2026, so I feel lucky to have been able to pick up some already!
