One Place to get the Gunma Yappashi Myogisan Nansa Pineapple Yogurt Frappuccino®

It was a lovely surprise to discover that the Starbucks at Yokokawa Service Area (Joshin-etsu express / highway) is currently offering the Gunma Yappashi Myogisan Nansa Pineapple Yogurt Frappuccino, released on August 5th. This drink is part of Starbucks Japan’s “Jimoto” (Hometown) series; a collection of limited, region‑exclusive flavors that highlight local character. Because each Jimoto drink is sold only at a small number of stores within its prefecture, they feel especially rare, almost like a little reward for travelers who happen to pass through the right place at the right time.

The Gunma Yappashi Myogisan Nansa Pineapple Yogurt Frappuccino takes its inspiration from the dramatic silhouette of Mount Myogi, a rugged peak known for its sharp rock formations and adventurous hiking routes. Starbucks paired this mountain motif with Gunma’s long tradition of dairy production, using locally sourced yogurt to create a smooth, tangy base. The addition of bright pineapple sauce brings a sunny contrast. I love that they have a photo spot (pictured above) at the cafe where you can frame your Starbucks and get Mt Myogi in the background.

Before leaving, I noticed a hand‑drawn “Jimoto Map” displayed inside the café (pictured above), marking the places on the highway in Gunma where this and other Gunma exclusive Frappuccino are available. It’s a charming illustration filled with local landmarks, mountains, and tiny Starbucks icons scattered across Takasaki and the nearby service areas.
