The description
A convenient six pack of the mini versions of the custard flavor of Pucchin Purin, a type of Japanese 'pudding' dessert, that do not need to be refrigerated.
The good
The size of Glico's Chokotto Pucchin Purin were what attracted me to them in the first place. Basically, the cuteness of them! In addition, I was interested to taste them to see how similar they are like the regular Pucchin Purin, which is a dessert like a custard pudding with a thin layer of caramel sauce. Especially as the mini version doesn't need to be refrigerated like the main product they are modelled on. The flavor is similar, but the texture of the mini version is quite different. It does feel more like a snack than a dessert.
The not so good
Aren't all purin custard flavor? I found that description 'custard flavor' on the front of the packaging strange seen as a rule Japanese purin is custard flavor! There is a layer of caramel on the Chokotto version, but the caramel taste was lost I thought. My purin loving daughter, doesn't think much of the chokotto version, she much prefers the regular type. Her younger sister though enjoyed the novelty of them. In summation, Chokotto Pucchin Purin isn't quite as good as the original Pucchin Purin, but the size and novelty of them add to their appeal. I won't be buying them frequently, but maybe every once in a while.
