Japan Goals: Jupialand Hirata

Thanks to an anniversary on July 14th annually, I heard about Jupialand Hirata - and now I want to visit it! The Hirata Village Hydrangea Anniversary 平田村あじさい記念日 commemorates a Guinness World Record.

On July 14th, 2018, the approximate 27,000 hydrangea of 372 varieties, at Jupialand Hirata, in the Ishikawa District of Fukushima Prefecture, were awarded the Guinness World Record for “the greatest number of hydrangea varieties on display.” The hydrangea flowers were reportedly planted by local residents.

The purpose of the anniversary is to commemorate this achievement and to let more people know about the beautiful hydrangeas of Hirata Village. Well, it certainly worked on me, because after looking it up and seeing the beautiful hydrangea AND lilies, I have now added it to my list of places I want to go!
