The description
This is a nylon wide spatula from Kokubo, part of their cute MEOW kitchen series. It’s designed as a general‑purpose turner for flipping, lifting, and stirring food in nonstick pans.
The good
The design is subtly cute with a little cat's face at the top of the handle and "meow" written on the handle. It only cost 100 yen, or 110 yen after tax, which is a price you really can't beat. Mostly, I like that the head is wide, much wider than any spatula I've ever had before, which will certainly help with flipping things like eggs and pancakes and other delicate foods, as it gives better support. It is flat too, so it's easier to get in under the food the thicker spatulas. The spatula head is made of nylon, which is gentle on nonstick cookware and won’t scratch surfaces.
The not so good
The nylon head is safe for nonstick pans, but it can feel a little flexible, which means it may not lift heavier foods as confidently as a metal spatula. Moreover, nylon utensils are heat‑resistant only up to a point, so if you leave it resting on a hot pan edge, it may warp or soften over time. I would have preferred a different type of material to nylon, but for 100 yen I took a chance! The cute cat‑themed handle is pointless, although cute, but the printed design may fade with frequent washing, especially if scrubbed or put in very hot water.
