The description
A pack of four rectangle pieces of "baby cheese iron" that provides a quarter of the recommended daily intake for iron (6.8mg) and folic acid (240μg).
The good
Rokko Butter has a range of cheeses known as QBB. QBB stands for "Quality's Best and Beautiful". They are widely available at supermarkets around the country. There are different flavors, a minimum of twelve. We've tried most of them at this stage. The 'iron' version of their cheapest is one of the cheapest at just 98 yen for four pieces. It is neither sliced nor cubed cheese, its a rectangle shape, which is about the size of two bites. I usually cut one piece into eight and add to a salad. One of my daughters eats it just plain on its own. They claim it provides a quarter of the recommended daily allowance of iron.
The not so good
This particular 'flavor' is probably my least favorite. Its not really a flavor given that its an iron supplemented variation of their cheese range. And as such, its quite bland. But that has an advantage too, if you are using it say in a salad and don't want an overwhelming taste. But it also means its a bit plain to eat on its own or with bread, and it doesn't pair well with wine either! However, as above, QBB (which is the brand name of these cheeses by Rokko Butter) also have other flavors which are more palatable.
Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com
