The Miffy 70th Anniversary Exhibition in Hiroshima

Miffy celebrated her 70th birthday on June 21st 2025. In honor of this milestone, there has been a traveling Miffy exhibition in Japan for over a year. It is currently in Hiroshima Museum of Art (event page).

The exhibition started on Saturday July 11th and runs until Tuesday September 8th 2026. You can see it between 9 am and 5 pm, but last entry is at 4.30 pm. The theme is “More, More, Miffy”, inviting visitors to enjoy Miffy more deeply from every artistic angle; story, characters, language, color, line, and composition. A highlight of the exhibition is that for the first time in Japan, all 32 Miffy picture books are displayed together. Two of those books are also making their first appearance in Japan.

I have not been to this exhibition personally, but I did go to a similar one for the 60th anniversary. Ironically, I didn't find it very child friendly, but I think that was more about the venue - Kawagoe Museum of Art - than the exhibition. There were some photo props and coloring pages for kids. Overall, though, I found the exhibition colorful and relatively interesting. It could make a good rainy or hot day activity before the summer ends.
