Koshoji

Amazing spot for hydrangeas in Sanjo

Koshoji is a really lovely temple, particularly so if you're a fan of all things hydrangeas. It's (to me) one of the premier spots to enjoy the flowers here in Niigata Prefecture, and there's a beautiful hillside covered in the flowers, a hydrangea-filled hanachozu, and hydrangea-lined walkways. Tons of the flowers to enjoy. If you do plan to visit, I would just recommend to be fairly confident with driving. Some of the roads leading to the temple are narrow and the parking lot isn't huge either. My suggestion would be to visit on weekdays where it's less crowded than weekends, just to optimize your overall experience as well.
