Intriguing architecture and great exhibitions
For domestic and global contemporary art, this is a great museum housed in a building that is an art exhibit in itself. The building combines water, stone, concrete, glass, and metal with voluminous halls and intimate spaces which are great for photography. The collections and exhibitions showcase young artists and globally famous creators, too. In the summer of 2023, exhibitions look at the works of David Hockney and a collection of art that looks at contemporary issues faced by young people. The museum shop has books, gifts, and stationery only available here, showcasing modern artists and craftspeople.

Another great museum in Tokyo
The Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (MOT) is another of the city's gems for art lovers. Whenever you visit there's usually a new, limited time only exhibition, and I highly recommend checking their website before you visit to see what events are on. Some of the special exhibitions are even free of charge, which is awesome for the caliber of work you can appreciate. Photography, graphic design, painting, pop art, sculpture - there are events that explore all of those topics and more depending on when you visit.
