    Tsuruga Caslte in Aizu Wakamatsu

The Tsuruga Castle is just directly in the center of Aizu Wakamatsu. The castle was built in 1384 and has since been destroyed, rebuilt and restored several times. It has its current appearance since 2011. Tsuruga Castle was one of the last strongholds of the samurai who were loyal to the Shogunate. In the meantime I have already visited many castles and generaly all are very similar. The special thing about this castle, however, was really the incredibly impressive exhibition inside. You can see very unique samurai armor and very unusual helmets. Also you can read about the whole history of the castle and the area around it. The inner part is completely modern except for the observation tower, which was left in its old style. From above you have a wonderful view of the castle park and the city of Aizu Wakamatsu.
