Famous for capybara
If you use social media regularly, you may have already seen the Izu Shaboten Zoo without knowing that's what it was. The venue is best known for its capybara which are often seen bathing with yuzu, but there are tons of other animals here too – somewhere over 100 species in total, including kangaroos which definitely made me a bit homesick! There's also an on-site restaurant with some cute themed dishes, and a gift shop where you can pick up things like plush toys.

Izu Shaboten Zoo
The Izu Shaboten Zoo is famous for the Capybara hot spring. In the fall and winter season you can enjoy a Capybara hot spring event every day. On the weekend they even add fruits and flowers to the Capybara bath. There also is a Capybara petting zoo. Besides that you can enjoy several monkey species, kangaroos and red pandas. Definitely worth a visit when you to Izu.
