    Convenient nature

Katakuri is the Japanese for a type of Dogtooth Violet. It only grows in healthy undisturbed forests, so when you see a colony of it in a place like this one, its usually roped off to preserve its condition. That is why this colony in Ogawa is so precious - it is one of only a few places where the colony is easily accessible without having to hike. It is free to visit, but they do collect donations that are used to preserve the colony. Katakuri is something that cannot be planted casually - it takes around 8 years for a plant to bloom and it has precise environment requirements. In other words - its a cause worth contributing to!
