Shingashi Riverbank Cherry Blossoms

Kawagoe's most famous cherry blossom spot

The cherry blossoms at the back of Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine in Kawagoe city are so well known these days they need little introduction! There are about 100 sakura that line either side of the Shingashi River on about a 300 meter section of the river. The Hikawa Bridge creates a nice focal point, but its the old fashioned boats being steered up and down the river under an arch of cherry blossoms that steals the show! Expect crowds between 10 am and around 5 pm during the height of the sakura season.
