Gorgeous country manor in Kashiwa
This country house in Kashiwa City was designated a nationally important cultural property eight years ago. The former village head family built the main house, with a massive thatched roof, in 1883. On the property are eight historical buildings dating from the early 1800s. The house has some exceptional features - gorgeous transoms above the sliding doors, high rafters that hold up the roof, and a veranda that stretches the length of the house. The garden has been carefully maintained and is a great spot for photography. HOW TO GET THERE: From Kashiwatanaka Station on the Tsukuba Express line, take any bus bound for Kashiwa Station or Kitakashiwa Station. The house is close to Hananoi Jinja bus stop.
