A symbol of memory and hope
The park with its preserved, bomb-damaged buildings, memorials, peace flame, the ringing of the Peace Bell reminds visitors of the great loss of life and the resolve to never again use nuclear retaliation. When you visit, see the Chinese parasol trees, aogiri, that are also known as the Phoenix Trees. They survived the bomb at 1500 meters from the hypocenter of the explosion and were moved here. They are a reminder of time, survival, and healing.

A reason to believe in peace
We visited the park here on our visit to the Peace Memorial Museum, and it was an emotionally moving day. The park (and the museum) are without a doubt a necessary visit on any trip to Hiroshima, as it makes you truly understand why peace should be the ultimate goal on our planet.

Beautiful and Moving Park
I went to the Hiroshima Peace Park for the first time last week and it was just stunning. The design and upkeep was amazing. It is big and a nice place to take a stroll and of course learn a few things. My favorite part of the park was the area with all of the origami cranes. They were beautiful. I really recommend this park.
