Delightful secret tea house
A short walk from Shibamata Taishakuten temple in Katsushika Ward is an elegant tea house dating from the Taisho Period. The house is recognized as one of the best examples of tea house architecture and garden in the Tokyo area. The house has some western architectural elements such as stained glass and decorative molding that reflects the Craftsman and Edwardian style homes of the period. You can have tea and snacks in the big tatami rooms facing the garden. These rooms can also be rented for special occasions or tea. Time stands still in this garden. It’s got to be my favorite in Tokyo.
