Over rated shrine
This is one of the most over rated shrines I've ever visited. It maybe that I expected too much after hearing so much about it for years. The grounds are very pretty though, with a thatched roof style period house on the grounds too. The history is very interesting. The shrine is dedicated to the spirit of Koma-no Koshiki Jakko. He was the governor of the county "Koma" after moving here from Korea. The people of Koma worshipped him and built the shrine after his death. To this day the shrine is served by direct ascendants of the Koma family. They hold several annual events. The shrine is particularly crowded over the New Year period. Parking is plentiful and free.
