Awesome Fireworks Twice a Year
Okay, 2020 aside, the fireworks festival at Nagara River is something I looked forward to every year. Not only once, but two consecutive weekends in the summer, they put on hour-long shows to enjoy. You can sit on either side of the river and keep up close with the fireworks. I am not kidding. I actually get home every year to find some firework shells in my hair. One downside is that the crowd leaving is massive, and you have to wait forever to get onto the bus. It is also 40 mins + to walk to the train station, especially if you are wearing yukata. Worth it though!

Beautiful fireworks festival in Gifu
This fireworks festival is famous in Gifu. Many of the locals brag about this festival. The fireworks are very gorgeous! But get there early to get a spot. There are some good food stalls, but not a ton so get your food early or you will be left waiting. The fireworks are gorgeous because they are right over the river. They had some heart shaped fireworks too!! I enjoyed this festival, but my boyfriend says that they Toyota fireworks are better.
