Yakitori with excellent hospitality

Hyokkori Gonsuke is a treat, a small independent izakaya specializing in yakitori. If you're in Matsudo City traveling on the Tobu Line this izakaya is right outside Mutsumi Station gate and the staff welcomes locals and visitors. We ordered a set of five skewers for variety and the specialty of the shop, tsukune. The chef grills the tsukune over coals on a tray and brings the tray, live coals and all, to your table. It's dramatic and warming on a cold winter evening. The prices are very reasonable. We had a few beers, the go hon moriawase (five varieties), kushi katsu, and salad presented in an old-fashioned sushi tray. What will bring us back is attention to detail and hospitality.
