Beef bowls worth writing home about

Ajidokoro Azuma are a small, blink and you’ll miss it restaurant in Mombetsu, Eastern Hokkaido. The specialty on the menu here are their beef bowls, but it’s the kind of beef they use that makes them special. The famous beef in the region is Hamanasu Beef, and they serve it up on top of rice with some lettuce, a gooey egg, and some onion dressing on top. You can get it in a set where you’ll also get some miso soup and tea, and it makes for a hearty and filling meal. There is an upstairs large tatami room which is great for larger groups, but downstairs there’s smaller tables and counter seating if it’s just you and a friend.
