My favorite find of 2022, Engawa Chabudai not only sells traditional Japanese garments at affordable prices, it does so with excellent service and in a beautiful Edo period building! The store is located near the Penny Candy Alley across the road from the Kawagoe Festival Museum. You can buy used obi for as little as 500 yen. They have a 1100 yen corner where they sell haori and other traditional garb. We bought a Haori Hakama in excellent condition for my son's elementary school graduation for 12,000 yen, which is about a quarter of what it would have cost us new!
