    Tanashi Shrine

Tanashi Shrine is a short walk from Tanashi Station in Nishitokyo. The shrine was built in the 13th century and features many interesting small buildings and many smaller spiritual places. In addition, you can really spot dragons on every corner. The most beautifu one is located directly at the small fountain for washing hands. Small treasures are also exhibited, such as a beautiful old kimono and old wood carvings. There was also a golden gate to a small shrine on a hill, which is really rarely seen. The actual reason why I wanted to go there was the festival of the Teru bozu dolls, which are usually hung up during the rainy season and thus pray to the god of weather for nice weather. At the shrine there was a little tunnel full of these little dolls of all sorts of colors. It was a great location, especially for taking photos.
