Hirai Beach

Wide beach, shallow sea

Of the four beaches we visited in Kashima this past weekend, Hirai beach was our favourite. It is also has the widest beach of the four. So it also has the longest walk to the sea from the parking lot! A beautiful walk on soft sand with some shellfish areas along the way. It is an ideal beach for young children. It seems to be particularly popular with surfers. However, there is literally nothing in the area, just run down toilets and two shower heads. But the parking lot is large, which is just as well as I have a feeling this beach is busy during the summer holidays!
