Home cooking style restaurant

Kuwabara is a home-style cooking restaurant in Niigata, and it's a fab spot to get a bite to eat. They have a lunch special that changes weekly, and on the week I went it was a unique ume and shiso katsu which was served with rice, salad, and soup. Super reasonably priced, too, at 980 yen.
