FYI: the business has closed since my review
Just a FYI if you were planning to visit Ale Beer & Pizza, the business has closed since I wrote my review. I haven't come across any other deep dish pizzas out here in Niigata Prefecture, but if you're in Tokyo I'd recommend Devilcraft which has several locations in the city.

Deep dish pizza out in the Niigata Countryside
I'd had deep dish pizza in Japan before, but that was at Devilcraft in Tokyo. Imagine my surprise when I found out there was a place in Tokamachi here in Niigata that also did deep dish pizza...score! Ale Beer and Pizza have a wide range of deep dish options on offer. There's everything from the Chicago Classic that has tomato, cheese, and Italian sausage, through to a Spicy variety with olives and jalapenos. There's even vegetarian options if you don't eat meat. You're also easily able to order either a small, medium or large deep dish pizza depending on how many people you're with. Prices are structured pretty reasonably - for instance with the Chicago Spicy, you're looking at 1100 yen for a small, just over 1700 yen for a medium, and 2900 yen for a large. To me this was cheaper than the Tokyo deep dish prices that I remember. If you like deep dish pizza this is a good spot to give it a whirl!
